Pain or Pleasure?

Why do teens get high? Pain or Pleasure?

We have all too often assumed that getting high has to do with masking the painful memories from childhood or dealing with the many problems of growing up.

I would like us to consider another possibility; kids these days are growing up privileged, spoiled and accustomed to the pleasures of the good life. Their biggest emotional pain is not getting what they want. The pleasures of getting high and drunk are just added to the list of hedonistic pleasures.

Why Do We Celebrate?

Happy New Years!

It's the time of the year when we look back and count our blessings, look forward to a new year and dream about all of our possibilities and  stop today and make some resolutions about what we need to change. And above all it's a time to Celebrate life. Or is it? Why do we celebrate?

Is it possible that we've lost our ability to Celebrate life?

Have we gotten so accustomed to "celebrating everything and at the same time nothing" by eating, drinking, smoking, spending, that none of it means anything anymore?

“Shot to Head with Alcohol”

Why letting kids drink at home, isn't necessarily working in France. A lot of parents thought that if responsible drinking was taught at home, problem drinking would not occur in the lives of their children, research is showing this to be a false assumption.

Pop-up-street-parties for vodka drinking french kids are taking place in Paris, aided by Facebook communication. To listen to the M.P.R. report please click here.

Loving to Get High and Addiction

I was honored when I was asked by Thomas Retterbush, to write a post for his blog called "Addicts NOT Anonymous". It was fun going back to the very first reference that I had to the "love relationship" with getting high. This web site is excellent and I would encourage you to read beyond the article that I posted.

Parent Resource: Medicine Chest Dangers

Your medicine chest may be the source of drugs for your son or daughter who "loves to get High". Drug companies know how to take away pain, kids will love the effects. Check out this initiative to save the lives of our children from overdose from pharmaceutical drugs found in your medicine chest.

Parents it's up to us to 'police' our own home; lock up the liquor and medicine cabinet, kids who 'love to get high' don't need our enabling.
