A 4-H Project made with Hemp

It’s “Show and Tell” for drug education.

When I was a 12 year old I put Hemp in a 4-H project, entitled “Weeds”. Hemp was one of five weeds, along with;  knotweed, motherwort, nightshade and rough clinquefoil.

I bring my “Weed” project along when I speak to students and I ask them how much trouble do they think that I got into for putting hemp in a 4-H project? they say, “A lot”. The truth is I didn’t get into any trouble it was simply a weed. Times have changed. Now students would get suspended from school, sent for a drug evaluation, or at least gotten a lecture from an Assistant Principal.

Attachment: The mistaken belief system that I will not be happy without this particular thing or person. Antony De Mello

For a teen who loves to get high, this love equals happiness. The essence of this teen’s life, “Life sucks and getting high makes me happy”. Pretty simple, a no-brainer? Absolutely.

This Fall, “Education Nation” aired on N.B.C. and C.N.B.C.

National Leaders, Civic Groups, parents, politicians, teachers and teens addressed the crisis we are facing in education and the substantial loss in standing we have experienced World wide. It seems as though everything was considered, when it came to the problem and the solution. Except on thing.

Back to School

Going back to school should mean “bummer dude, summer’s over”. But for a lot of kids it’s a time of excitement, “I’m back hanging with all of my friends”.

School inadvertently provides kids who “Love to Get High” access to parties, new friends, the latest trends in getting high, pills, pot, and some alcohol. (not as easy to get as pot, according to students)

Parents it’s great to have the resources that school provides to help you parent; structure, homework, role models, care and support. But it’s our job to get involved, visit, call, find out if the staff at school has any concerns.
